The Computer Science Outreach Hub at Maynooth University is dedicated to sparking interest in computing among students, educators, and the broader community. Established within the Department of Computer Science, the hub serves as a vibrant space for interactive workshops, events, and outreach initiatives designed to inspire learning and engagement in the field.

Who We Are

Since its founding in 1987, the Department of Computer Science at Maynooth University has evolved into a leading institution for computing education and research. Located in the Callan and Eolas Buildings on the North Campus, the department is equipped with cutting-edge resources, including seven software labs, a dedicated hardware lab, and specialized research spaces that foster innovation. The department is home to a dynamic academic community, with seventeen faculty members, nine support staff, thirty-five postgraduate researchers, and a thriving cohort of over 500 undergraduate students. Committed to excellence in teaching, research, and outreach, the department actively contributes to the advancement of computing knowledge and education.

Our Mission

The Computer Science Outreach Hub is driven by a commitment to:

· Expanding access to computer science education through engaging workshops, seminars, and hands-on learning experiences.

· Building connections between students, researchers, and industry professionals to foster collaboration and innovation.

· Supporting local schools, educators, and community groups in developing computing skills.

· Providing a platform for guest lectures, coding competitions, hackathons, and technology showcases to celebrate and advance the field of computing.

· Through these initiatives, the hub aims to create a supportive and inspiring environment where learners of all backgrounds can explore the exciting world of computer science.

The Computer Science Outreach Hub offers a diverse range of events throughout the year, designed to inspire learning and collaboration. These include:

· Coding Workshops – Interactive, hands-on sessions tailored for students of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced coders.

· Tech Talks & Guest Lectures – Engaging discussions led by industry experts and researchers, offering insights into the latest trends and innovations in computing.
